Topic: Human rights violations in China
How does human rights impact the quality of life for people of China and their future?
Human rights impacts the quality of life for people of China and their future because they are violated and taken away due to the harsh conditions of the government. Human rights are the different things that the citizens of a country are able to do without punishment. Some of these human rights are, the right to life, liberty and property. An example of laws being vilolated in China is the One Child Policy that they have. I read that, “Most China watchers seem to have always taken for granted that the policy was a necessary evil."(GS,1) This talks about how the commoners feel that this is unfair and that it breaks the human right to life as I mentioned earlier but, they know that it must be so as to decrease the population in China which is already an over population.
Reflection to the unit: Studying Human rights in China has taught me to look outside of the U.S. and realize what happens in other parts of the world such as China. It has taught me to be concerned about these issues and have enough interest in them to study and learn new things and ideas for solutions that I may not have thought about in the past. Issues like these that don't physically effect me aren't things that I worry about becuase I don't usually know about them until I study them and get different peices of information.
